Every year at this time we say we must vote. And every four years we say it is more important than ever. But this year it is different. This year we have a very scary truth looking us in the eye, and that is Donald Trump. And that truth—and his lies—are what a Donald Trump presidency would look like for all of us.
Walls will be built. Our decisions about our bodies will not be our own. Our girls and the women of this country will be cut down in words and actions. People of color will be labeled criminals because they may be “illegal.” Our rights will be chopped away as the Supreme Court justices are chosen in line with the politics of Trump. And all the work that has been done over the past 65 years in voting rights, civil rights and human rights will be erased at the stroke of a pen.
We can’t let this madman win. And he must lose by a landslide. It can’t be a close election because as we all have heard, he will not take a loss gracefully. Plus, in a close election there are so many ways he and his cohorts can steal it.
We all must go out and vote. We must vote for Hillary Clinton for president. We can make history—and save what semblance of democracy we have. We will be electing the first woman for president of the United States of America.
But with this election must be a mandate—every vote must count and every one must cast their vote. We must vote like our lives depend on it, because they do. If you won’t vote Democrat, if you don’t, vote for Hillary of the Working Families Party line. Just vote your interests. Just vote Hillary for president.
