Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Council Member Jumanne Williams host ‘Girl’s Empowerment Day’
Nov. 12, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Girls Leading Up sponsored “Girl’s Empowerment Day,” a day aimed at supporting and improving the well-being of young women transitioning from high school to college. The event, hosted by Emicia Parker, director of the Miss New York Plus America pageant, took place at Brooklyn Borough Hall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The purpose of the “Girl’s Empowerment Day” is to highlight the importance of self-care and to empower young women to improve their personal and professional development, while preparing them for leadership roles in their future professional endeavors.
The day’s events included a performance by Girl Be Heard! and remarks by Tina Charles, player for the WNBA’s New York Liberty and founder of Hopey’s Heart Foundation.
