Paul J. Cooper Center for Human Services, Inc. turned its administrative offices on the second floor at 510 Gates Ave. into a festive dining room and served an early Thanksgiving dinner to the community.

Paul J. Cooper opened its doors Thursday, Nov. 17, from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to serve more than 50 men and women from shelters and community centers in Central Brooklyn. The food was blessed by the Rev. Diane Davis, and guests were welcomed by William F. Green, chief executive officer. Mary Joyner, Paul J. Cooper board chair, greeted everyone with the hope that they would leave not only with full stomachs but also with the knowledge that “they were somebody and would help themselves and others as well.”

This year is the fourth year that Paul J. Cooper staff, coordinated by Phil Garrett, chief financial officer, has held this annual event, and the agency looks forward to continuing to serve the community for many years to come.
