It was like the African Diaspora NAACP Awards. Big contributors to the African Diaspora—doctors, community activists, business folk and artists—were honored at the fabulous event at Florence Gould Hall. As Applause Africa’s Debo Folorunsho made sure everything went smoothly, comedian Dulo kept everything flowing nicely as the lit crowd heaped praise on the honorees such as Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, Ayo, Ato Essandoh, Myao, Mamadou Samba, Loza Maleomho, Jessica Matthews, Luvvie Ajayi and Sarkordie.

Over the past 10 years, Applause Africa has committed time, energy and resources to identify and celebrate Africans in the Diaspora who have made a significant difference in African communities and sectors around the world.
