The House of the Lord Church in Brooklyn is launching a 1,000-day prayer vigil for the Chibok girls, who were kidnapped from their school in Nigeria in 2014.
The event is taking place Sunday, Jan. 8, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church, located at 415 Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn.
On the night of April 14-15, 2014, a group of militants attacked the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Nigeria. They broke into the school, pretending to be guards, telling the girls to get out and come with them. In all, 276 female students were abducted by Boko Haram.
Last month, 21 freed Chibok schoolgirls and a baby returned home to celebrate Christmas with their families for the first time since they were abducted.
