In the wake of continued allegations of discrimination and racism in Hollywood, Black entertainers took the spotlight at Sunday’s Golden Globes.
Taking home the Best Drama Picture award was “Moonlight” starring Trevante Rhodes, André Holland, Janelle Monáe, Ashton Sanders, Jharrel Jerome, Naomie Harris and Mahershala Ali. The highly-acclaimed film is about a young Black man deals with his dysfunctional home life and comes of age in Miami during the “War on Drugs” era.

Viola Davis won in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in the film adaptation of August Wilson’s play “Fences” opposite Denzel Washington.
In the television category, FX comedy series “Atlanta” took home the Golden Globe for Best Series, Comedy or Musical. Donald Glover won Best Actor, Comedy or Musical for his role on the series.
“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” won the award for Best Television Movie or Mini-Series.
Tracee Ellis Ross won for Best Actress, Comedy or Musical for her role on ABC’s “black-ish”
