Former congressman Charles Rangel recently sat down for a Q&A with Nasser Kazeminy, the chairman of National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO).
Rangel sits on the board of NECO and is friends with Kazeminy. The two share similar stories of making their own way as Americans during the nation’s formative years. Kazeminy is a successful entrepreneur and a first-generation immigrant from Iran.
The conversation begins with Rangel’s journey from poverty in Harlem to his celegrated career in public service, from Purple Heart war hero, to lawyer, to a Civil Rights champion and ultimately, to iconic New York politician. Rangel also discusses the current situation in the United States focusing on the current political climate and President Donald Trump’s attempted bans on immigration.
