Black Hollywood takes centerstage at the 89th Academy Awards on Sunday with several African-Americans not only taking home awards but also blazing the red carpet.
Several awards were handed out to Black entertainers at the Oscars, which came under fire in previous years for a lack of diversity in nominees.
The coming-of-age film “Moonlight” took home the top prize for Best Picture making it the first film with an all-black cast to win in the category. “Moonlight” also won for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor awarded to Mahershala Ali.
Viola Davis took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Fences” and Best Documentary Feature was awarded to “O.J.: Made in America.”
