Greetings! In the final week of Women’s History Month 2017, sister and elder Betty Dobson, activist, author and co-founder with Dr. James McIntosh of C.E.M.O.T.A.P, appeared on my “Express Yourself” radio simulcast, highlighting their 30th anniversary this weekend. (See “COMMUNITY”). Dobson also offered special acknowledgement to the passing of Leola Maddox, late wife of legendary activist-attorney, Alton Maddox, and a powerful contributor to their organization, the United African Movement. Birthday greetings this month to a bevy of brilliant divas: Sarah Vaughan, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Pearl Bailey, Jackie “Moms” Mabley, Vanessa Williams, Sheryl Swoopes and last but not least, Dr. Dorothy Height.
