It all depends on which side of the political fence you are on, which will determine if you think Trump is doing an exceptional job his first 100 days in office.
America is extremely divided, and Trump’s base is satisfied with the president’s accomplishments. Republicans are ecstatic with the president’s selection to the Supreme Court Neil Gorsuch, who is now a justice on the Court. This is a win for the conservatives and Republicans, and to many this is a rousing success even though it was necessary to change the rules.
To begin with, no one expected Trump to win the election, and he was not prepared to step into the job. Trump has admitted that the job is harder than he expected, but he refuses to admit that he has no idea what he is doing. It does not matter if the first 100 days were a success, all that matters is he is still standing.
The bar has been set extremely low with Trump’s administration, and success is in the eyes of the beholder. At this point, everyone must be reminded that Trump is a habitual liar, and his administration makes decisions based on alternative facts.
The leadership in the Democratic Party has given Trump an F in every category, but every time Trump signs an executive order or a presidential memorandum, he is proving that he is powerful. In Trump’s first 100 days, he has signed 30 executive orders, 21 presidential memorandums and more than 25 legislative bills.
Many will criticize the president and claim that he has not executed his campaign promises, starting with repeal and replace Obamacare, reform the tax code, build the wall on the Mexican Border and fix the roads and bridges in the country. But everyone knew that everything Trump wanted to do would cost money, and this is the dilemma every president has to figure out.
On the international front, Trump has flexed his muscles, and bombed Syria and Afghanistan. Everyone is trying to establish the reason and purpose for these military exercises, but in Trump’s mind and in the minds of many Americans and international leaders, this was a success. Again, success is in the eye of the beholder, and Trump has had a stream of leaders of foreign countries visit and have dinner.
In terms of phone calls, Trump has made more than 100 calls to different international leaders and countries. There is a list of major leaders who have traveled to Washington D.C. to initiate a personal dialogue with the president, starting with Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of China Xi Jinping.
Overall there were 16 international leaders, and his administrative team is traveling around the world having meetings with other countries’ administrative teams. Every new political team has problems, and the job of the president is to fix the problems. But there are scandals and poll numbers in Trump’s administration that are different and unique.
Trump’s poll numbers for an American president’s first 100 days are the lowest in the history of the country. There have been the largest and most protests of any American president in the history of the county. The Russian scandal has the potential to open up a corruption investigation, which could cause Trump to be impeached.
Trump’s first 100 days are a threat to America’s core beliefs and America’s Democratic principles. It appears that he is determined to dismantle the achievements of his predecessor, and diversity is no longer a focus, a policy that makes our country great.
Trump has proven that an American president can turn back the hands of time and operate the country as a country in which overt racism and sexism is supported by the government and the justice department. Finally, the most important promise that Trump has kept, working on it every day, is to make America white again.
