The Committee to Mobilize Against Dictatorship in Haiti just organized a “Protest Hillary Clinton Resurrection” rally last week, at Medgar Evers College Graduation held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
“Since early April when Rudy Crew, the president of Medgar Evers College, announced that Hillary Clinton would be commencement speaker at the school’s graduation and that she would be awarding her an honorary doctorate, our organization KOMOKODA has been on the move,” said the group.
“For us, this decision is an insult to the legacy of Medgar Evers for when he was assassinated in 1963. Hillary Clinton was a ‘Goldwater Girl,’ standing with Barry Goldwater in opposing civil rights for Black people and also an insult to the Black youth who attend Medgar Evers College who Hillary called ‘super predators with no conscience, no empathy’ who ‘must be brought to heel.’
“We have held several protests outside the school, distributed over 10,000 flyers in front of the school and in the surrounding neighborhoods. When we started protesting most students, faculty, and staff did not even know Hillary was being brought to their graduation. Upset community members have called Rudy Crew’s office as well as CUNY Chancellor James Milliken’s office to demand that they rescind the invitation and they have sent faxes and letters to the school, and joined us in organizing and meetings, and leafleting all over the city.
“Our work has been so successful that students are in uproar and this issue has become an elephant in every room in the school with everyone wondering how much is Rudy Crew getting paid for this. Hillary’s minions have had to call on 84-year-old Myrlie Evers-Williams (former wife of Medgar) to be present at the graduation to ‘personally introduce her longtime friend Hillary. They are such longtime friends that Hillary referred to Medgar Evers as ‘Medgar Evans,’ while speaking at the American Bar Association’s 2013 annual meeting in San Francisco.”
The graduation was June 8. They were supported by the United African Movement, the Freedom Party, the New Abolitionist Movement, the December 12th Movement, Assemblyman Charles Barron, International Concerned Friends and Family of Mumia Abu-Jamal, World African Diaspora Union, United Negro Improvement Association, Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project, Radyo Pa Nou, IFCO/Pastors for Peace and the Lynne Stewart Organization as they protested outside the Barclays Center.
Wednesday, June 15, the National Black Church Initiative, a faith-based coalition of 34,000 churches consisting of 15 denominations and 15.7 million African-Americans, announced it “will not support Senator Clinton’s third run for the presidency.”
The NBCI said, “She has lost twice, and that is more than any man has done. Hillary is way too liberal and far too hawkish. She will kill a mouse in an instant with a drone like Obama did, and the Black Church wants nothing to do with that. To those who try to float the idea to give her another bite at it, we want to put the nail in the coffin that this will not happen.”
The Rev. Anthony Evans, president of the National Black Church Initiative, said, “Hillary, like Obama, tried to stuff down the throats of the Black Church, a radical gay agenda by appointing the first openly gay campaign manager. She thought that we would be so despised of Trump that we would even violate our own Church teachings to support her. She was wrong and we will never support her ever again.”
The NBCI continued, “She needs to spend her time apologizing for what the Clinton Foundation did to the Haitian people. It was appalling. They allegedly stole millions of dollars sent for the homeless Haitians. This was one of the central reasons as to why the Black poor, and the Black Church did not support her candidacy. When you steal from the poorest of the poor, you do not deserve a third chance at anything. The Clinton Foundation should do all that they can to uplift the people of Haiti and they should use the treasury of their Foundation to repent.
“Senator Clinton, that many do not know, is a hawk. That simply means that she would use the military to wage war, to bomb supposedly all of our enemies and place us in a cycle of violence all over again. The Black Church says there is no way we will support a candidate who is such a bloodthirsty warmonger. She should retire.”
