Hot 97 hosted its  annual Summer Jam Concert at the MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, N.J., last weekend. It was hot, but the music was hotter. Summer Jam is always a highly anticipated event.

Hot 97 is the premier New York City-based radio station that primarily plays mainstream urban hits. A few of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B performed at this year’s concert.

From Cardi B to DMX, it was a jam-packed show. A few guest artists who came to the concert  were Meek Mills, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah and Fetty Wap. More than 50,000 people attended the sold-out concert. Attendees from all over the states came to see their favorite artists. People as far as California traveled to attend the concert. Millennials and some older folks enjoyed a great experience seeing the variety of  artists who performed at the Summer Jam concert. There were not only hip-hop artists but also reggae and dancehall artists. Everyone who attended the show had positive vibes and just wanted to enjoy a good time with their favorite artists.

“Because Summer Jam is such a big deal, we want to invite well-known artists,” said TT Torrez, who is the radio personality on Hot 97 and the producer of the Summer Jam Concert. “When we are planning our annual concert, we go by who’s poppin, making noise not just on the radio but on the internet and social media.”

DJ Enuff, another prominent DJ and radio personality on Hot 97, also spoke to the Amsterdam News. “This show is so successful because it celebrates the music and culture of hip-hop,” he said. “Summer Jam is one of the few shows that is centered around urban music.”

Summer Jam also paid tribute to Notorious B.I.G. This year marked the 20th year since his death, and artists such as Faith Evans, Lil Kim, Doug E. Fresh, Queen Latifah and The Lox with Jadakiss came to pay respects to the eminent hip-hop icon.

This concert is an annual event and is almost a necessity for hip-hop and R&B enthusiasts to attend at least once. There are artists for all ages to enjoy. As TT Torrez said, “Summer Jam features artists who are well-liked among the urban communities.”

Summer Jam is partnered with Nutrament, MetroPlus Health Plan, McDonald’s, Starz original series “Power” and Effen Vodka. For information about the concert or Hot 97, go to: http://www.hot97.com.
