Afrobeat fans from all over the tristate area descended on Times Square Saturday night to see international superstar David Adedeji Adeleke. People from as far as Liberia, the Congo and Ghana came out to enjoy the first show on the Nigerian artist’s national tour.

Adeleke, who also goes by Davido, performed at PlayStation Theater this past Saturday. He is a Nigerian artist and music producer in the Afrobeat community. He has won multiple awards, including Best International Act from BET, Nigeria Entertainment Awards and MTV Europe Awards. Since the age of 18, Davido has been producing and performing songs. And at the age of 24, he has become one of the biggest names in Afrobeat. The Saturday show was one of his first stops in the United States. Currently, he is on his 30 Billion World Tour and will be performing at 30 more venues. Afrobeat artists from different countries also performed. The show was well-attended by mainly Nigerians and Ghanaians, but there were also people from neighboring countries. The mostly young crowd rocked to tunes such as “Shockee,” which brought out the big dancers, and “Skelewu,” “Fans Mi,” “Aye” and “All of You.”
