If the King of Pop were alive today he would have turned 59. However, even right years after the death of Michael Jackson, fans are still giving birthday wishes via social media.
Instagram, Facebook and Twitter were all abuzz on Tuesday with the #MichaelJackson hashtag and photos posted of Jackson. On the Twitter account for the late pop legend by his estate, fans were asked to join in the cyber celebration.
In Jackson’s hometown of Gary, Ind., the “8th Annual Michaelpalooza” block party took place in front of Jackson’s childhood home as part of a three-day celebration. A 3D version of Jackson’s famed video for his single “Thriller” was recently premiered at the Vienna Film Festival.
In the city, there are several events celebrating the King of Pop. City Council Member Jumaane Williams is hosting a celebration in Brooklyn at Bar Chord,
