“When it comes to clothes, less is more,” stated Australian designer Anna Quan. It’s a principle that she abides by and each piece is designed with the wearer in mind. Her clothes are functional, desirable garments that can easily transition from day to

night, work or play.

Specializing in tailoring and using the finest fabrics, Anna Quan focuses on subtle details that ultimately make her garments unique. At Quan’s show for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s Resort ‘18 collection, presented at Carriageworks in Sydney, Australia, Quan’s clothes were soft, lingerie looks with menswear details. Her pinstriped, loose-fitting pajamas were very attractive. There were skirts with off-the-shoulder blouses; jumpsuits with high necklines and white, pleated hemlines; and pretty slip dresses. All of her garments incorporated a well-executed fit, perfectly placed pockets, faultless linings and exaggerated sleeves.

Since spring/summer ’15 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, also held in Australia, Anna Quan has dressed internationally famous celebrities including Kendall Jenner and Karlie Ross. Her work is regularly featured locally and internationally in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle magazine.

Karla Spetic was another designer who presented willowy pieces in her collection. She immigrated to Australia from Dubrovnik, Croatia in 1993, bringing a unique romanticism to her designs and a sensibility of the value of special clothing. She is recognized for her signature, soft tailoring and juxtaposition of masculine silhouettes and feminine fabrications. With the lights on the runway, her transparent raincoats, dresses and pants showed beautifully. Her swimwear showcases quality Lycra swimsuits in an array of bold prints.

The Spetic company’s collections are distinctive and also incorporate IC, a luxury knitwear label; and KS Swim, a loungewear label. Her clothes have been worn by Solange and Beyoncé.
