JetBlue Airways recently surprised the Harlem Jets youth football team with a $10,000 donation to continue providing services to the city’s youngest football players.
Executives and crewmembers were joined by coaches and players from the Harlem Jets and New York Jets team executives for a tailgate party. Jets cornerback Buster Skrine and running back Bilal Powell, former Jets player Joe Klecko and the Jets Flight Crew cheerleaders were also on-hand to meet and greet with fans.
JetBlue became aware of the Harlem Jets through its crewmember Shane Bennett. In 2015, Bennett was honored as the Volunteer of the Year for JetBlue’s New York Support Center for his work with the Harlem Jets. He began volunteering to be a positive male role model for young men of color, exposing them to many new opportunities.
