Brooklyn-linked artists such as Les Nubians, Soul Science Lab, Talib Kweli and DJ Spinna performed at the 11th annual Restoration Rocks event this past Saturday.

Hundreds of people filled the streets to watch the great entertainment and show the many vendors love as they bought food, clothes, hats and art.

Throughout the years, Restoration Rocks has presented artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Maimouna Youssef, MC Lyte and Chrisette Michele. Annually, they have had more than 1,000 attendees throughout the daylong community event. Along with musical performers, there were also clothing and food vendors. The crowd was filled with eager anticipation as Brooklynites waited to enjoy their time at the festival.

The all-day free festival took place in front of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza in Brooklyn. Founded by the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, Restoration Rocks promotes Black arts and culture within the community. Some of the attendees noted that because gentrification is on the rise, Bedford Stuyvesant is no longer one of the largest African-American communities in New York City. Restoration Rocks aims to keep the historic significance in our community.
