Alumni from several historically Black colleges and universities came together Feb. 15 at Teaneck High School for the HBCU Panel Discussion & Mix and Mingle.
The event was hosted by the Bergen Passaic Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women’s Role Model Committee, the Teaneck High School Guidance Department and the Black Youth Organization.
Delaware State University and Teaneck High School alumnus Dawn Tennent organized the event. She is the cousin of late journalist and DSU alumnus Michael J. Feeney.
More than 200 students attended the program. WABC 7 reporter and Howard University alum A.J. Ross moderated the panel discussion portion of the program. Students and parents were also able to ask alumni questions about their experiences attending Black colleges.
Students were able to meet alumni from various HBCUs, including Delaware State University Morehouse College, Spelman College, Virginia State University and North Carolina A&T University. There was also a panel discussion in which alumni discussed the advantages of attending an HBCU.
