Whoa! The New York African Restaurant Week has already begun! We have until Oct. 21 to visit more than 20 restaurants providing a prix fixe menu plus cooking classes, chef-hosted dinners and a food festival in Harlem.

This celebration of African cuisine, restaurants and chefs is an opportunity to support your local businesses and promote diverse voices in the global culinary movement. This festival has a commitment to community development and social impact in New York City.

Participating Harlem restaurants include Ponty Bistro (Senegalese), Londel’s (Southern), Tsion Café (Ethiopian), Le Baobab (West African), La Savane (African Fusion), Solomon & Kuff (Caribbean) and others. Lots of good food to be had.

This Saturday, Oct. 13, at MIST (@MISTHarlem, 46 W. 116th St., 646-738-3043, www.mistharlem.com) come enjoy a taste of Africa at the African Restaurant Week Festival. Check out more than 25 restaurants/food vendors representing cuisines from all of Africa, chefs, cooking demonstrations, live music and DJs creating an Afrobeats day party, and more than 30 non-food vendors representing fashion, beauty, arts and culture. It is not to be missed!
