As the weather was cooling down in New York City over the past weekend, the love was heating up at ESSENCE’s inaugural Black Love Gala: the ultimate celebration of Black love. More than 300 attendees consisting of both couples and singles gathered at Pier Sixty Saturday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. in their best black-tie looks and dancing shoes to join ESSENCE for an elegant evening. Guests engaged in a creative dining experience, danced and enjoyed cocktails all night along the Hudson in New York City, featuring a sultry live performance by Honey + Vinyl, with sounds provided by celebrity DJ couple DJs Kiss and MOS. The most exciting moments of the night were captured via Facebook Live while attendees also enjoyed casino-themed games and “Vooth” video and photo booth activations, before winning some romantic prizes to share with their significant others. ESSENCE Senior Digital Lifestyle Editor Charli Penn kicked off the evening with remarks and welcomed guests to the celebration before turning the spotlight toward hosts Devale and Khadeen Ellis. By the end of the night, the whole room was feeling bright with flames of love from all who attended.
