Opening Tuesday, Oct. 23, is the much anticipated newest restaurant on the Harlem foodscape. Harlem restaurateur Brian Washington-Palmer (Native, La Bodega, No Parking, Sexy Taco/Dirty Cash) and partner Nikoa Evans-Hendricks, of Harlem Park to Park, will open Ruby’s Vintage Harlem on the corner of 137th (@rubysvintagenyc, 2340 Seventh Ave.) in the same building where the legendary actress Ruby Dee was raised. This cocktail and wine bar will serve classic cocktails and small plates in a throwback midcentury modern space.
Lenox Avenue’s Babbalucci chef owner, Andrew Lopresto, and partner, Bruno Molfetta, are set to open Bar 314 (@bar314_nyc, 1260 Amsterdam Ave.). It is an Italian-style bar focusing on apertivos, digestifs and Italian bitters. Of course, there will be freshly made pizza and other Italian bar foods to pair.
Also, there are just three more days to get up in New York African Restaurant Week, ending Sunday, Oct. 21. Participating Harlem restaurants include Ponty Bistro, Londel’s, Tsion Café, Le Baobab, La Savane, Solomon & Kuff and others. Visit www.nyarw.com for other participating restaurants in the city.
