East Harlem’s Union Settlement announced their first annual Shop and Dine East Harlem for the Holidays. Through two of their initiatives—Buy Local East Harlem (funded by Citi Community Development) and East Harlem Working Together (funded by NYC Small Business Services), there will be a series of events to promote the neighborhood’s rich culture while supporting local businesses.

The series will be run from this Saturday, Nov. 24, with Small Business Saturday, through Dec. 22 with the musical Solstice Soul Train on East 125th Street. Within that time, weekly holiday pop ups and markets will be held at La Marqueta (1590 Park Ave.) and Metropolitan Hospital (1901 First Ave.), plus the annual tree lighting at 106th Street and Third Avenue.

This Saturday, Nov. 24, Small Business Saturday will be held at Dear Mama Cafe, 308 E. 109 St., from 10 a.m. to noon. There, a complimentary breakfast and refreshments will be served, followed by a walking tour of participating businesses along 116th Street offering unique holiday gifts. The final stop will be at the Holiday Market at La Marqueta.
