Street Corner Resources, a leading anti-gun violence and community resource organization in Harlem, host an open mic night that’s not just an ordinary open mic event.

The Peace Café – hosted on the last Friday of each month – is a cross between an old school tea room and a neo-soul chic lounge. It brings together a diverse population, in a family friendly environment. As the name implies, peace and positivity are highlighted as artist perform in front of an appreciative audience. Singing, drumming, dance, spoken word and rap are examples of some of the featured entertainment. The public is welcome, and anyone can perform so long as they present positive, family-friendly entertainment.

Located at 233 West 140th Street between Adam C. Powell and Frederick Douglass Blvds., the Peace Café is an integral part of Street Corner Resources’ efforts to promote peace in Central Harlem. Under the name Speak Peace Forward, Street Corner Resources operates a Cure Violence program.

The next Peace Café is on Friday, November 30 at 8 p.m., the doors open at 7pm. For more information, all 212-694-8759. Free fefreshments will be served.
