For Fall ’19, Affair’s designer Rufat Ismayel brought glamour and lots of sparkle to Spring Studios for the Final Day of New York Fashion Week 2019. One of Hollywood’s newest go-to-labels, it is fitting for Affair’s collection to close the NYFW shows at Spring Studios. Designed by Azerbaijani designer Rafat Ismayel, the looks were sultry, empowering and feminine.
On the runway, his haute couture fashions ranged from cocktail dresses to eveningwear. Supermodel Tülin Sahin, from Turkey, opened the show in a two-piece ensemble enhanced with a beaded midriff bomber jacket and a satin emerald pleated skirt. This outfit showed off sophisticated “school girl” vibes. Each piece was uniquely created. There were silhouettes styled with very avant-garde details and intricate designs. Bodysuits were paired with multi-meter long trains. Each look was accompanied with its own headpiece made of feathers, beads and embellished hairpins.
From sultry pantsuits to cocktail dresses that were expertly designed in lace and velvet, there were butterfly wings and lace accents. Standout pieces included a lace belted pantsuit. The finale piece, also worn by Sahin, was a black velvet long sleeve evening gown with a voluminous ruched bottom in a deep goldenrod. This particular piece was selected and customized for Ashanti at the recent Grammy Awards. It demonstrated how the designers are developing growing relationships with Hollywood’s elite.
Though most of the collection featured meticulous black lace and organza textiles, there were also vibrant emerald green satin styles, lush silver velvet hits, and billowing gold layered looks in chiffon and satin. For the runway, these pieces created a rich color palette.
The collection was inspired by Ismayel’s trip to North America. It’s where the monarch butterfly’s intricate wings mesmerized him into a trance of lace, organza and chiffon. This show attracted notable attendees, including Francesca Curran (“Orange Is the New Black”), Jennifer Aydin (“The Real Housewives of New Jersey”), Angelina Pivarnick (“Jersey Shore”), Daniella Salvi and Miss New York 2018, Rahmeka Cox.
In the credits, the leading hair stylist was Aubrey Loots (@lootypics) for Wella Professionals. Michelle Webb for Dollhouse Xpress performed makeup magic and Christoph Eye Couture provided the dramatic lashes.
