It knocked the assembled press room for a loop when “Greenbook” won for Best Picture leaving “Black Panther” “BlacKkKlansman”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “The Favourite”
“Roma”, “A Star Is Born” and “Vice” in the dust, so to speak.
It’s almost heartbreaking that the Oscar for Best Director didn’t go to Spike Lee for his amazing work in “BlacKkKlansman” losing it to an equally great filmmaker, Alfonso Cuarón, who won for “Roma”. The other nominees were Pawel Pawlikowski, “Cold War”, Yorgos Lanthimos, “The Favourite” and
