Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! public health program aimed to reduce childhood obesity and inspire children to adopt a healthy lifestyle. According to research from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, 21 percent of Black children ages 6-11 were obese compared to 13 percent of white children. Black girls were 50 percent more likely to be obese than white girls. If you’re wondering what to do with your kids and teens this summer, put fitness at the top of the list.

In just over two hours you can be in Bermuda. The entire family will enjoy getting their toes in the pink sand. At the Fairmont Southampton kids can get their fit fix. The Explorer’s Camp has summer programs for children ages 6-13 that are active, fun and educational, including Outdoor Kid’s Fit, Glow in the Dark Trampoline Park, Glow Golf, Fishing Off De Dock, climbing wall, educational beach walks, boogie boarding, beach/snorkeling time and a lighthouse excursion. You know it’s the golf course where the real deals are made. Give your kids the leg up and expose them to the game early. The JW Marriott hosts the Junior Golf Camp with Ray Boone. Children ages 9-17 can take to the green with PGA Director of Instruction Ray Boone. The two-month camp—divided into six sessions—is all about increasing strategy and ability, while learning fundamental golfing technique in a constructive atmosphere at the resorts’ two award-winning 18-hole golf courses. What will your kids learn? The program incorporates games and drills that teach the rudiments of golf, including the full swing, short game, rules, sportsmanship and etiquette.
