Dr. Hazel N. Dukes had her plaque unveiling ceremony at Ruby’s Vintage in Harlem on Sunday, June 30; it was sponsored by the Migdol Organization. Dukes is the president of the NAACP New York State Conference and a member of the NAACP national board of directors. Some of the special guests in attendance were New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York State Attorney General Letitia James, New York’s first Black mayor, David N. Dinkins, and the Rev. Al Sharpton. Dr. Dukes also received a letter of congratulations from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. Organizers touted that “her dedication to human rights and equality is exemplified by her role linking business, government and social causes.”  The plaque continued, “Dr. Dukes is an active and dynamic leader who is known for her unselfish and devoted track record for improving the quality of life in New York State and across the country.” Dukes is also president of the Hazel N. Dukes & Associates Consultant Firm, specializing in the areas of public policy, health and diversity.
