Exonerated 5 member Kevin Richardson recently went to Syracuse University to take part in an on-stage conversation—“Justice in America: A Discussion on the Exoneration of the Central Park 5.” The school is also reportedly naming a scholarship after him.

Candice L. Carnage, chief operating officer of The Bronx Defenders, and Paula C. Johnson, Syracuse University professor of law and co-director of the Cold Case Justice Initiative, participated in the conversation. Richardson also attended a performance of the Syracuse Stage production “Thoughts of a Colored Man,” highlighting the Black male experience in America.

Students at Syracuse are leading an effort for the school to give Richardson an honorary degree. Growing up, Richardson wanted to attend the school to play basketball and perform in the marching band.
