For Noon by Noor’s spring 2020 NYFW collection, designers were inspired by the l Bahraini pearl and its surroundings. Designed by Shaikha Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Mohammed Al Khalifa, the looks were softly styled in a summer palette including white, black, pearl gray and shell pink. They worked with fabrics that were both woven cloth developments and prints. Rich orange colors punctuated the collection and completed the range of their exuberant, yet refined summer styles.

In the front row of this well-attended, 9 a.m. show at Spring Studios last Tuesday, was celebrity Natalia Dyer, wearing Noon by Noor’s spring 2020 Tenby pant and matching Rockberry trench in pearl gray over a black Kensington bralette. She was sitting by Camilla Belle in another Noon by Noor outfit. Photographers went wild. Other inquisitive guests were asking, “Who’s that?” It’s quite the norm for some guests to arrive at a designer’s show wearing the designer’s fashions from their past or present collections. It’s a nice tribute.

In the collection, the pearl is interpreted as a symbolic motif in the polka dot print and woven dotted strips. Literal forms of the pearl appeared in details like fasteners, trimmings and embroidery. There was also script “Pearl of my Life” stitched on the brand’s signature t-shirts and sweatshirts. Some pieces appeared on the runway in easy gathered volumes and sheer panels to exhibit the fragility of the shells. High-waisted trousers flowed fluidly with crisp shirting and exaggerated paper bag waists that alluded to architectural structures.

Describing the collection, Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa shared, “The details speak volumes as they literally and figuratively tie back to the source of our inspiration this season: Bahraini pearls and seashells.” Lightweight fabrics and fluid silhouettes are balanced with bold lively colors that emit confidence.

Their understated, luxurious pieces continue to be a part of the brand. In delicate pink jacquard, a billowing summer dress can be worn effortlessly for day-to-night activities. A draped, V-necked dress with tonal embroidery touches catches the eye. Structured cotton is tailored into utilitarian shapes. For easy separates in cotton and silk, there’s mixed stripe shirts, shorts, shirts and dresses.

Offering a refreshing look, bold stripe dresses, pleated skirts and tops show up in bright hues. Other feminine looks in the Noon by Noor collection included shorts, top and dresses in sheer, all-over pearl fabrications.
