Bass player Stanley Banks and promoter George Johnson are proud to have worked with the Sam Pinn Memorial Celebration, which packed Brooklyn’s Boys & Girls High School Auditorium on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. About 60 musicians came out to honor the great, late Dr. Pinn.
Banks and Johnson had dreamt of a Sam Pinn musical extravaganza, which would honor “the man who brought great jazz to Club 966.”
They knew it couldn’t happen in one evening, so Banks called Mrs. Doris Pinn, and said, “We need two evenings…now looking back, respecting Dr. Pinn’s achievements and his successful hiring of hundreds of musicians, no amount of evenings will ever be enough to honor this great man!”
