At NYFW’s spring/summer previews, the fashions and fabulous designers were endless. Show after show there was something completely different, yet the clothes emulated fine fashion-forward looks for the modern woman and man. Growing up with his family in Orissa on the East Coast of India, designer Bibhu Mohapatra was exposed to fashion at an early age. For his spring/summer ’20 collection, he favored sumptuous Indian fabrics and vibrant colors. Bibhu continues to utilize terrific textiles and good garment construction in his designs. His tailored looks are classic and elegant. This famed designer has a distinctive talent for draping and creating clothes that fit perfectly on the female body. While working on his design degree at FIT, Bibhu Mohapatra honed his skills as an assistant designer at various top designer houses, such as American fashion label Halston.

Leading global lifestyle brand Cynthia Rowley presented a fabulous show for NYFW. Brimming with energy, Cynthia Rowley imbues a sense of adventure in all of her design projects, be it wetsuits or her ready-to-wear. Originally, she wanted to be a painter. While attending the Art Institute of Chicago, Rowley fell into fashion when a local department store buyer discovered her on the train. It gave Cynthia the confidence to move to NYC where she won the CFDA award for best new talent and became a best-selling author. She was named Designer of the Year at the American Image Awards last spring, and continues to bring innovative design concepts to new categories that extend beyond the realm of fashion.

Currently, the Cynthia Rowley brand includes sportswear, while her other related categories include accessories, swimsuits, wetsuits, fitness, eyewear, bridal, beauty, fragrance, tech accessories, office supplies, and home furnishings.

Her clothes are sold in over 60 freestanding collection boutiques, as well as in department, specialty, and online stores worldwide.

Cashmere Song, another outstanding brand, presented an international design touch in her NYFW show. Chief designer Song Hong grew up and studied in inner Mongolia. With her cultural background and experience in international fashion, she loves the use of natural color and ecru cashmere material. Her looks are long, giving the human body the second-skin look with warmth and a soft touch. In fall/winter, her cashmere collection is mixed with leather. In spring/summer, the designer worked with silk and other lighter fabrics. Cashmere Song’s collection is sold worldwide.
