The City Planning Commission has approved what is being called a “massive” expansion to the Lenox Terrace apartment complex.
The approval came in the form of a rezoning allowing for an expansion of the property that includes the construction of five 28-story residential towers. There will be a reported 1,600 units in the buildings with 400 to 500 being affordable and 150 units for people earning minimum wage.
Many longtime tenants in Lenox Terrace are opposed to the rezoning. Members of the Ten West Tenants Association at Lenox Terrace feel that the rezoning will displace longtime residents, according to reports. The association wants a racial impact study and protections for current tenants.
