Wanna reconnect and rekindle the flame with that special someone? Sometimes a quick escape is all you need to get your groove back. Whether you are planning a last-minute trip for Valentine’s Day or celebrating another special occasion, here are five romantic getaways you can take anytime.

Washington, D.C.

The nation’s capital is ideal for a romantic weekend rendezvous. Spend an afternoon at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery (free admission; 8th and F Streets NW), where you still have time to see the stunning portraits of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama before they go on tour in summer 2021. And don’t miss the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden (free admission; located on the National Mall between 3rd and 9th Streets along Constitution Ave. NW), where you can strike a pose in front of the “AMOR” version of Robert Indiana’s iconic “LOVE” sculpture and go skating in the seasonal ice rink until mid-March.

Where to stay: Housed in a national landmark building in the hopping Penn Quarter district, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco D.C. (700 F St NW) has a chic, art deco vibe. Here, guests step into an emerald green lobby with chandeliers, several couches and lounge chairs and a muti-mirrored mantle above the fireplace. Guests are greeted with a glass of wine or beer when they check in, if they missed Kimpton’s nightly complimentary wine hour. The hallways are long and winding, echoing the former historic General Post Office space. Rooms are spacious with high, vaulted ceilings and eye-catching design touches like golden yellow walls, a white lion bust above the bed, striped drapes and deep purple bedding. Dine downstairs at the swanky hotel restaurant, Dirty Habit.

North Fork, New York

The North Fork is Long Island’s laid back alternative to the hectic Hamptons. In warm weather it’s a perfect place to take a dip or walk along the shore at one of the pebble-stoned beaches and chill out in the tranquil lavender fields of Lavender By the Bay (7540 Main Rd, East Marion, NY). And anytime is the right time to raise a glass at one of the area’s stellar wineries like the family-owned, waterfront Kontokoska Winery (825 North Rd, Greenport, N.Y.), and to share creative cocktails and locally sourced seafood at the tastefully designed and dimly lit Frisky Oyster (27 Front St, Greenport, N.Y.).

Where to stay: Innkeeper Sylvia Daley makes Quintessentials Bed and Breakfast and Spa (8985 Main Road, East Marion, N.Y.) a home away from home. The Jamaica native treats guests to lively conversation and a satisfying, mid-morning brunch with eggs, muffins, fruit and vegetables served on the patio on sunny days. Guest rooms are quiet and cozy, and the well-manicured backyard is the idyllic place to tie the knot or renew your vows.

Miami, Florida

Miami is always a good time, so bring on the fun and smooches in the sun. Take a walking tour of the art galleries and graffiti walls in hip Wynwood, wine, dine and shop in trendy Brickell, put on your dancing shoes and savor Cuban cuisine in festive Little Havana, and take a beach stroll by day or night in sexy South Beach.

Where to stay: Circa 39 Hotel (3900 Collins Ave, Miami Beach) is a vibrant boutique hotel in the heart of Miami Beach with colorful guest rooms, a lushly landscaped pool deck and a tropical courtyard garden. Nosh on tasty nibbles and bites and sip craft cocktails at the lobby bar WunderBar’s inviting happy hour, and enjoy healthy, global comfort food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the onsite café, Jules Kitchen.

Montreal, Canada

Montreal is literally lit. The Paris-reminiscent city celebrates wintertime with outdoor parties, ice slides, ice skating and high-tech light shows. In the spring, the city blossoms with various installations, performances and exhibitions. And summertime comes alive with the renowned Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, which for over 40 years has featured some of the top musical talent in the world including Sade, Macy Gray and Diana Ross.

Where to stay: Located steps from Montreal’s top museums, concert halls, festivals and live music attractions, the bohemian boutique Hotel Chez Swann (1444 Drummond Street) with red interior guest room touches is the perfect arts and culture lover’s escape.

Atlantic City, New Jersey

Hailed as the Las Vegas of the East, a trip to Atlantic City has something to suit every love language––from high-end casinos, a historic boardwalk, soft sand beaches, high profile entertainment, outlet shops and luxury spas.

Where to stay: The famous Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (1 Borgata Way) is the Jersey Shore town’s most popular entertainment resort. A destination in itself, couples who aren’t afraid to gamble on love can reconnect with Borgata’s “The Couple That Spas Together Hotel & Spa Package,” complete with an overnight stay and choice of either separate spa treatments or an indulgent couples experience. Check out the high-level pool and skyscraper views at Immersion Spa, or visit one of Borgata’s new venues on the ground floor––the Moneyline Bar & Book sports bar, and Level One Cocktail Bar & Lounge, an innovative spirits lounge.
