New Yorkers don’t have to worry about their stimulus checks being taken by banks or debt collectors, state Attorney General Letitia James said.

Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, the Treasury Department is issuing checks of up to $1,200 for eligible adults and an additional payment of up to $500 for children to help Americans affected by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak.
