Congressman-elect Jamaal Bowman is one of several Democratic candidates former Pres. Barack Obama recently endorsed as part of his first round of endorsements for the 2020 cycle.
Bowman is a former middle school principal who defeated a 31-year incumbent in a stunning 15-point upset to become the Democratic nominee in NY-16, which includes parts of Westchester County and the Bronx.
“I’m proud to endorse this diverse and hopeful collection of thoughtful, empathetic and highly qualified Democrats,” said Pres. Obama. “Together, these candidates will help us redeem our country’s promise by sticking up for working class people, restoring fairness and opportunity to our system and fighting for the good of all Americans—not just those at the top.”
