It’s baaaack! On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, 5-9 p.m., for one night only, the award-winning Black woman-owned Harlem business, Experience Harlem, is hosting a version of their legendary crawls (ie. Lenox Sizzles, Food Drink Blvd.) for a safe, socially distant night in Harlem in celebration of the 46th annual Harlem Week and in support of Black-owned restaurants with a portion of sales benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem.
With just over 14 years of marketing solutions service with Harlem’s small business community, Experience Harlem founder Angie Hancock knows the impact COVID-19 has had on Black-owned businesses, especially in the hospitality industry. Prior to the pandemic, Black-owned businesses were on the decline in NYC, representing only 2% of all businesses. Since the pandemic, 41% of Black-owned businesses have permanently closed. And as Ms. Hancock says, “There is no Harlem without Black-owned businesses.”
