Rev. Al Sharpton and attorney Benjamin Crump held a press conference this week for 14-year-old Keyon Harrold, Jr. who was falsely accused of stealing a 22-year-old white woman’s cellphone at the Arlo Hotel in Manhattan.
The incident caught on cellphone video was posted on Instagram. Harold is the son of jazz musician Keyon Harrold Sr.
In the video the white woman can be seen falsely telling a hotel employee that the teen stole her cellphone. The woman then attacks the teen demanding her phone back. The Arlo Hotel has since apologized for the incident on social media.
Sharpton facilitated a meeting between the family and Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance following the press conference.
