A man accused of slashing and assaulting eight people in four days in the Bronx has been indicted on a total of 66 charges, including multiple counts of attempted murder, assault and robbery.
According to Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, JayQawn Byers, 22, of the Bronx allegedly assaulted four people between Aug. 4 and Aug 7. One of the victims was a 55-year-old man who suffered a brain injury and was in a coma. Another victim was 75 and using a walker when Byers allegedly slashed him after he demanded money.
Clark said Byers has ties to the Bloods gang and targeted men over 50. Byers was arrested on Aug. 7. He is due back in court on June 25.
