“Demonstrating an unwavering commitment and passion to the care of our Lincoln patients exemplifies the true spirit of nursing,” stated Lillian Diaz, DHA RN NEA-BC, chief nursing officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in the Bronx in her letter to nurses. Diaz praised the Lincoln Nurses as leaders who were “innovative throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” highlighting their heroism for the “Year of the Nurse” theme.

“Nursing practice has experienced a significant transformation over these last two years, resulting in creative and innovation to manage unprecedented challenges we have had to face as a result of the pandemic and leading to transformations of unimaginable proportions. Nurses have led the way to creating safer environments, providing a better outcome for Lincoln patients suffering from the coronavirus, and successfully leading the implementation of the COVID-19 testing, tracing, and vaccination programs here at Lincoln.”

The COVID pandemic and outcomes were “remarkable times, and one that we could not have imagined in our lifetimes. Thank you for your unwavering resolve and dedication, and for your true spirit of commitment that has made a difference in the lives of those we serve.”
