Ten college-bound Bronx students received Brandon Hendricks Scholarships from the Bronx Rising Initiative. Each student received $5,000 to go toward their higher education studies.

The announcement of the winners came after a street co-naming in honor of Hendricks, who was killed by gun violence on June 29, 2020. Prior to being killed, he was recently accepted to college with a full scholarship. The announcement of winners and the street co-naming took place on July 7, Hendrick’s birthday.

Some of the scholarship recipients included Khalijah Robinson, a graduate of Thurgood Marshall Academy headed to Morgan State University, Khaliya Reyes, a graduate of Saint Raymond Academy for Girls headed to Le Moyne College and Lucki Islam, a graduate of Dreamyard Preparatory headed to New York University.
