This past week services were held for Jordan Emmanuel Nieves, the son for popular Harlem activist Cordell Cleare and David Nieves. Born Sept. 5, 1992, Jordan passed on Aug. 6, 2021.
His family said, “From birth Jordan was a bright light to his family and everyone he met. Jordan’s early childhood battle with lead poisoning resulted in landmark legislation being implemented in New York City that has protected thousands of children ever since its passage in 2004.”
Jordan passed away at Mt. Sinai Hospital. He is survived by parents Cordell Cleare and David Nieves; brothers, nephew and host of family and friends.
The viewing took place on Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at Mt. Neboh Baptist Church on Harlem’s Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. The funeral service took place the next day at the New Covenant Christian Church in the Bronx. The young man was laid to rest in Rosedale Cemetery, in Linden, N.J. Family and guests were invited to the Grab & Go repast at Harlem, Inc., thereafter.
