Malcolm X’s youngest daughter, Malikah Shabazz, was found dead in her Brooklyn home Monday night, according to the NYPD. She was reportedly found by her daughter. Shabazz was 56.
The NYPD reports that Shabazz’s death does not appear to be suspicious and that she passed away from natural causes.
“I’m deeply saddened by the death of Malikah Shabazz,” said Bernice King, the daughter of Martin Luther King,” My heart goes out to her family, the descendants of Dr. Betty Shabazz and Malcolm X.”
Shabazz was one of the couple’s six daughters. Malcolm X was assassinated on Feb. 21, 1965 at the Audubon Ballroom. Dr. Betty Shabazz died in 1997.
