The life of 12-year-old Kade Lewin is being celebrated at funeral service being held Wednesday in Brooklyn at New Life Tabernacle Church (4905 Avenue D).
Lewin was fatally shot in the head earlier this month while in a car with his 20-year-old cousin and her 8-year-old niece on East 56th Street and Linden Boulevard in Brooklyn.
On Wednesday, Lewin’s body will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at New Life Tabernacle followed by a funeral service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Thursday, he will be buried at Canarsie Cemetery followed by a gathering at Flatlands Avenue and East 56th Street in Brooklyn.

Last week, a memorial service was held at Brooklyn Science and Engineering Academy where Lewin attended school. Schools Chancellor David Banks attended the service where students and teachers shared memories about Lewin.
“We shouldn’t have to be here today. I’m tired of thoughts and prayers,” Banks said. “This tragedy of gun violence that is happening all around us every day is outrageous, and it is unacceptable.”
