East 168th Street and Teller Avenue in the Bronx is being co-named after late politician Aurelia Greene.
The ceremony for the co-naming is set to take place on Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. The event is being organized by Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, City Council Member Althea Stevens and Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner.
A Democrat, Greene served as a State Assemblymember representing the Highbridge, Morrisania, and Morris Heights sections of The Bronx Bronx from 1982 to 2009. She then served as Deputy Borough President of the Bronx from 2009 to 2017 under Ruben Diaz Jr.
Green died in 2021 at the age of 86.
I wish you had gone in-depth about your contributions, victors, and vices.
WHO IS SHE? There has to be more than her being a politician.
Street naming and achievements mean a lot. What did she do as a politician???
