The sun was hot and bright. But it didn’t deter dozens upon dozens upon dozens of runners who were excited to participate in the 500 Men Making a Difference 5K. “This Saturday come catch a sweat with us at the 8th annual #BedStuy5K. We have bibs for participants, run times, and the beautiful tree lined streets of #BedStuy,” 500 Men founder and CEO Wayne Devonish encouraged  for the Saturday, Aug. 6 event. “If you have been waiting to test your time amongst your fellow runners, or want to take that first step in the journey.”

The people came, and honorary ambassadors and grand marshals including Amsterdam News Editor Nayaba Arinde cheered them on, handed out medals at race end, and posed with winners with big trophies and cash prizes on the stage in the beautiful Herbert von King Park in Bedford Stuyvesant.

The Grand Marshals were: Oma Holloway, Tim Meany, Keishon Warren, Nayaba Arinde, and Al Vann in Memoriam. The Ambassadors were: Dan Fisher, Avis Devonish, Carolann Church, and Ann Hayley. For more information, email wmdkaos@aol.com.
