A candlelight vigil honored the late Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts at Thurgood Marshall Academy for Learning and Social Change in Harlem on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The vigil was organized by local resident Grant Reid.
Students, parents and local officials met in front of the school for the vigil and reflected on Butts’ legacy and impact on the community.
Founded in 1993. the Thurgood Marshall Academy was developed by the Abyssinian Baptisit Church and Development Corp., in collaboration with NYC Board of Education.
