Rev. Al Sharpton will deliver the eulogy for Tyre Nichols at his funeral in Memphis Feb. 1, with attorney Ben Crump set to deliver a call to action.

The news comes amid growing calls for Memphis authorities to criminally charge the five police officers who were fired for relentlessly beating Nicholas after he fled a traffic stop on January 7.
The 29-year-old father died of his injuries three days later, leaving behind a 4-year-old son. Attorneys Crump and Antonio Romanucci commissioned an independent autopsy that was conducted this week. In a statement, they said the preliminary findings showed “extensive bleeding caused by a severe beating, and that his observed injuries are consistent with what the family and attorneys witnessed on the video of his fatal encounter with police” earlier this month.
