Depression (141371)

On February 26, the nonprofit Alliance for African American Awareness will present a Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness Workshop that will include a fashion show to support local designers and models to walk the runway. The workshop will advocate for domestic violence awareness and provide information to educate the community about preventing abuse, early warning signs, and a variety of resources to help empower the entire community.

During his tenure as New York Governor, David Patterson had signed pioneering legislation to push for the resources that domestic abuse victims need during times of crisis. During this event, Patterson will also be honored by the Alliance for emphasizing the importance of support and protection for domestic abuse victims.

Domestic violence remains a major social issue throughout various communities, so it is crucial to hold prevention and awareness workshops to help bring an end to this epidemic of violence.

The event will be held at the Harlem Community Center (220 E. 125th Street, Harlem) and will begin at 3 p.m. For additional information, contact Leroy Gadsen at 347-262-0536.
