Rev. Al Sharpton will be celebrated at a star-studded birthday party in Los Angeles on Oct. 31, featuring an appearance by Magic and Cookie Johnson. The event, which will take place at the Fairmont County Plaza hotel, will help support the National Action Network’s nonpartisan Get Out the Vote Campaign. Honorees for the evening include Motown icon Smokey Robinson. Cedric the Entertainer and Anthony Anderson will co-host the event, which will also bring Rev. Sharpton and Anderson together. The “Black-ish” star is also set to portray Rev. Al in a miniseries based on “The Redemption of Al Sharpton,” an Esquire magazine profile by Pulitzer Prize-winner Mitchell S. Six of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ children have released a statement in support of their father as he awaits trial for alleged sex trafficking and racketeering, reports Variety. A collaborative post was shared on social media on Oct. 22 by Quincy Taylor Brown, Chance Combs, Justin Combs, Christian Combs, Jessie Combs and D’Lila Combs that reads: “The past month has devastated our family. Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media.” The statement continued that Diddy’s kids “stand united supporting you every step of the way. We hold onto truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family. WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD.” ………

The Apollo Works In Process series continues with a new one-woman play by acclaimed playwright/actress Regina Taylor, which will hit The Apollo Stages at The Victoria on Saturday, Oct. 26 with two performances at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Taylor told Go With The Flo: “The character Iris is triggered by what she’s seeing in the world right now — and memories of growing up in a fractured America. The play reflects upon her life.” Taylor continued, “Exhibit is art meeting purpose because now is not the time to be silent.
