Several local high school students from New York and New Jersey are headed to Disney World in Florida this week after being selected to participate in the 2025 Disney Dreamers Academy.
The teens, along with a parent or guardian, received an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort, where they will take part in an educational and mentoring program.
Six students were selected from the New York-metro area including Jamilia Sankoh from Manhattan, Michai Taggart from Jamaica, Queens, Nettie Rattray from East Hampton, NY, Anna Park from Fort Lee, NJ and Aubrey Lynn from West Orange, NJ.
The students are part of a group of 100 students from across the nation attending the four-day event where they’ll learn important skills such as communication techniques, networking strategies and build confidence.

Nearly a thousand applicants answered a series of essay questions about their personal stories, the people who are most influential in their lives and their dreams for the future. The program has mentored over 1,700 students since its inception in 2008.

During Disney Dreamers Academy, the Walt Disney World theme parks become “classrooms,” where Dreamers participate in hands-on, full-immersion workshops led by industry experts covering a bevy of career paths, ranging from animation to zoology.
Each year, motivational speakers, celebrities, entrepreneurs, executives and Disney cast members gather at the event to share their stories and provide insight on charting a positive course and achievement.
“We are thrilled to spark new possibilities and provide these future leaders with the tools they need to chase their dreams,” Walt Disney World Ambassador Shannon Smith-Conrad said in a statement, “After 18 years of hosting Disney Dreamers Academy, we continue to be inspired by these teens and their incredible accomplishments.”
Disney officials announced Monday that actor Tyler James Willams of the ABC sitcom “Abbot Elementary” and star of “Everybody Hates Chris” will serve as this year’s “DREAMbassador.” Williams, along with several other celebrities, will spend significant time during the event interacting with the students by sharing his career journey and participating in career focused workshops.
Other celebrities participating in Disney Dreamers Academy including singer and actress Tamala Mann, musician Adam Blackstone, comedian and radio host Rickey Smiley, fashion influencer Jerome Lamaar and Hot 97 radio personality DJ Suss One.
The Disney Dreamers Academy will take place March 26-30.
